A Virtual Assistant(VA) is a person that assists a business with the administrative aspects of their company. Much like an administrative assistant, receptionist, or secretary, we will assist you with running your company. Unlike those job titles, we also specialize in management. We are skilled in managing emails, social media, calendars, and scheduling.
Do you need a Virtual Assistant?
Are you an entrepreneur or small business owner? Did you have a dream of being your own boss, doing the things you loved, only to find out running your own business meant doing a lot of administrative tasks that you didn’t envision? Do you hate sending emails, posting to social media, making phone calls, typing invoices or documents? Are these tasks taking valuable time you could be dedicating to your clients and essentially making more money? If you answered “yes” to any, or all, of those questions you could use a VA!
Contracting out your administrative duties has many advantages. It can make you money, save you time, and help grow your business. Additionally, a VA can generally complete these tasks more accurately and in less time than you could.
For example, if you spend 5 hours a week on these various duties, that’s 20 hours a week that you are not working. 20 hours a week you’re not dedicating to your clients. If you charge, say $30 an hour, that’s $600 a month you’re not making!
I know what you’re thinking, “I wouldn’t actually make an extra $600, because I’d have to pay a VA” and you’re not wrong, but you’re not 100% right either. Let’s take a look at that $600 figure and subtract the amount you’d spend on a VA. If you can complete these tasks in 5 hours a week, a VA can probably complete them in 3 hours. That’s 12 hours a month. Already that’s less than what you could do. We charge $20 an hour for our VA services. That works out to $240 a month you’d be spending on a VA. So back to that $600 figure, you’d subtract $240 from that figure and you’ll still be making a profit of an extra $360 a month! That’s just over $4000 a year!
Now, you want to know why you don’t just hire an Administrative Assistant as an employee? It’s a valid question. Let’s look at the numbers here as well. The average wage of an administrative assistant is $12-$15 an hour. To keep things simple lets say you offer your new employee $12 an hour. You get them to work one 8 hour shift a week. That’s 32 hours a month. Now, factor in vacation pay, and you’re looking at $386.30 a month for your new employee. Don’t forget about your source deductions. You’re now required to pay a sum of money to the government, every month, because you have an employee. If you contracted out your tasks you wouldn’t have these fees. This all works out to about $1200 a year you’ll be missing out on because you decided to hire an employee and not a VA.
“If you want to do a few small things right, do them yourself. If you want to do great things and make a big impact, learn to delegate.”
– John C. Maxwell, American Author
